Taking care of your teeth with Xerostomia
Fighting dental plaque
Fighting the film of bacteria that builds up on the teeth and gums known as dental plaque, starts with brushing after each meal using a suitable toothpaste and toothbrush, using dental floss or interdental brushes to clean the interdental spaces, and using cleansing mouthwashes.
Choose an ultra-soft toothbrush
To avoid damaging the gums and oral mucosa when brushing the teeth, it is better to use a toothbrush that has soft bristles with rounded tips. The INAVA Sensitive toothbrush is ideal for this condition, as it has bristles that taper from a diameter of 0.18 mm at the base to just 0.01 mm at the tip.
Use a low-abrasion toothpaste
Xerostomia can be made worse by using an excessively abrasive toothpaste. It is better if it's fluoridated, to further protect the enamel and inhibit the proliferation of bacteria in dental plaque. Preferably choose a gel for people with sensitive gums, to be used every day, such as ELGYDIUM SENSITIVE which is a low-abrasion toothpaste gel with just the right amount of fluoride content to effectively protect sensitive teeth and gums.
Use impregnated dental floss
In the case of dry mouth, a fluoride impregnated dental floss should be used to complement the action of brushing and to fight dental plaque in the spaces between the teeth that are difficult to reach with a toothbrush. INAVA Dentofil Chlorhexidine is well-suited to maintain good oral hygiene for people with dry mouth.
